Our America is....

Democracy is being dismantled before our eyes, as we sit watching on our tv’s and computers, listening to our podcasts. Is this the America we want to offer to future generations, our own children? Or can we imagine something better?
We could choose an America where we protect our immigrants and refugees, where people look at the facts and realize how much immigrants contribute to our culture and our economy. We could strive for an America where people are trusted to make their own health and reproductive decisions and we acknowledge that men are over 50% of the abortion issue. We could build an America where people of all races and cultures are equally valued for their inherent humanity. Can we focus on how we damage one another, rather than who we love. (Tell me, America, as a nation, where should our priorities be? Mitigating family violence, child abuse, sexual coercion and human trafficking or controlling healthy, loving relationships)?
Working together we can strive to make the earth healthy again for future generations, instead of ignoring changing climate. Can we encourage all of our churches to teach love, acceptance, empathy, respect … not hatred, nationalism and discord?
In the chaos of present day America we can shine our light on kindness, love, and community while exposing those who are hungry for money and power. We can’t remain silent while a few fearful, insecure, white men sacrifice our democracy to reinforce their own sense of self worth. Please write letters, protest, contribute, stand up! Don’t let this ugly vision of America take root. You know we are better than this.
